The Persuasion Industry (1965)

The Persuasion Industry (1965)

John was fascinated by the slick advertising campaigns of the 60s. This book is an account and assessment of the advertising industry between 1962 and 1964. It describes the very different styles and larger-than-life characters of various agencies, and their relationships with many prominent companies including the Ford Motor Company in Great Britain, Oxo Limited, and the Guinness Company.

First published: 1965 (Eyre & Spottiswoode)

FUN FACT: John used to sing the jingle of 'Go to work on an egg' - the iconic 60s ad - to encourage his children to eat eggs
